Guide to Competitive FAB

There are no rule differences between casual FAB and competitive FAB. However, those who choose the competitive model often have higher stakes in their decks. In addition, they tend to be more aggressive when it comes to table politics and player interaction.

During such games, therefore, you can expect explosive starts with cards such as Mana Vault or Mana Crypt. You can also experience victories by turn one to four. That said, if you are a person who craves competition, you need to understand that not everyone appreciates games that finish too fast.

Deck-Building

Due to the casual nature of FAB, it is fun for almost everyone. When it comes to strategies with restrictions put on deck-building, pretty much anything goes. This platform has a singleton deck-building rule where a player may only run 100 unique cards in his/her deck.

These cards are non-basic, which means that the player is free to use any cards with the ‘basic’ super-type. These include Forest, Mountain, Swamp, Island, and Plains. The aim of this rule is to increase the differences between games, which lowers the likelihood of having an explosive start.

If you are a new player, you will not have to deal with a high barrier for entry. Essentially, Flesh and Blood is great for everyone. As with all Magic formats, there will always be those who crave the experience and challenge of competition. This is why competitive FAB came into being.
